TV Stand Chalk Paint Makeover

I finished another chalk paint project that I've been wanting to do for awhile and now it's finally done! Our TV stand has been around for 11 years and 4 moves. It was banged, dinged, dented, and looked altogether ragged!

Here's a close-up of the damage

We keep wicker baskets in each opening and as they slide in and out it has rubbed the finish off.

I decided to chalk paint again because it doesn't require sanding or priming and typically one coat is enough. Win, win, win, right?!

I used leftover paint from when we first moved in and were trying to figure out what tan color to use in the front room. Mix the paint with baking soda in a one to one ratio and voila! Chalk paint!

Here's the TV stand after one coat.

It looks pretty good but if we get closer you can see the paint was too thin in some places so I had to do a quick second coat in certain areas.

After the paint dried I used polyacrylic to seal and strengthen the tops where the wicker baskets will rest. **In the future I will poly everything as there are already a couple of scratches to the sides where I didn't poly**

Here is the table back in our front room with the baskets in.

It looks like a whole new table!! It definitely lightens up the whole room and gives it a fresh new look. Best thing? It was created with supplies on hand and only took 2 days start to finish, most of that just waiting for poly to dry in between coats. So what are you waiting for? Try chalk painting!
